What is Invisalign?

If you’re ready to transform your smile with clear and comfortable treatment, look no further than Invisalign. With custom-made discreet aligners and no metal wires and brackets, Invisalign offers a minimally invasive and very effective way to straighten your teeth.

Invisalign is extremely simple to use, and an innovative way to enhance your smile without interfering with your everyday activities. The virtually invisible and removable aligners gradually move the positions of your teeth using gentle forces throughout your treatment. You simply wear the aligners for 22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth. As a result, you don’t need to make any dramatic diet or lifestyle changes for Invisalign to be successful.

What does Invisalign treatment involve?

Consultation & planning

At your initial consultation, we examine your teeth and gums and make sure Invisalign is the right system for you. We discuss the treatment process with you and give you the chance to ask any questions. We take digital scans and images so your aligners can be made with a comfortable and accurate fit, and use innovative ClinCheck software to create your virtual treatment plan and show you exactly how your teeth will move. We can even show you a preview of your new straight smile!

Innovative treatment

When your clear aligners are ready, we show you how to fit them correctly. You need to wear each aligner in the series for around two weeks before changing it for the next one. Each aligner moves your teeth little by little, controlled by your bespoke treatment plan. We see you in the practice every 6-8 weeks to check your treatment progress and make sure everything is going to plan.

Your new straight smile

When you have worn your last set of aligners, your teeth will be in their new straight positions and you can start showing off your new smile! We make sure you are happy with your results and give you a retainer to maintain your new straight teeth.

Frequently asked questions

You may find your speech is slightly different initially, as you get used to the feel of the Invisalign aligners in your mouth. However, this will soon improve and return to normal, allowing you to speak clearly and confidently once more.

The length of your Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of your case, and how far your teeth have to move. Most cases last from 9-18 months, but your treatment may take a shorter or longer time. We will give you an idea of your expected timescale at your initial consultation.

The cost of Invisalign depends on your case and which type of system you choose. As a guide, the cost of Invisalign can start from £1500 for the simplest treatments rising to £5200 for the more complex treatments. The average cost of Invisalign is in the region of £4000. We give you an idea of your expected costs at your initial consultation. You can also spread the cost with our interest-free payment plan, making Invisalign treatment more affordable.

If you lose one of your aligners, please contact us as soon as possible for further advice. In the meantime, you can wear an aligner from your previous set to prevent your teeth from moving too far out of line. We may also advise that you move straight onto your next set of aligners, depending on your individual case.

You need to wear your aligners for around 22 hours a day for your treatment to be most effective. You can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing your teeth, and playing contact sports.

Yes, you will need to wear retainers to keep your teeth in their new positions following your Invisalign treatment. Teeth have a habit of moving out of place, so you will need to wear retainers on a part time basis (usually overnight) for as long as you wish your teeth to stay straight. You will be given fixed or removable retainers.
